John Blossom b 1777 Plympton, MA, family to Rutland, VT area then to Salem, NY as an adult by 1800, d there in 1849

  • A carpenter per his enlistment papers War of 1812 as reported in The Blossom Family by Walter L. Blossom.

  • Patentee (one of three) April 21, 1829, Cylinder Hemp and Flax Machine

parents Benjamin and Molley Ripley. Benjamin built a sawmill in VT. m Elizabeth Ingraham 1798 and moved to Salem NY soon after. Children; Polly 1807, Minerva 1810, John 1812, Zenas 1814 and Chauncey 1818. m a second time to Margarette Eagleston in 1843. A will was written in 1849 but no details regarding his trade.

Other

There were 5 other I Blossoms in the 1800 census from MA, ME and NY. A John from Hillsdale NY was 45+ , but no trade has been identified, unlike for the others.
