John Gehrig

b 1770 Berks Co., PA - d 1826 Maiden Creek, Bucks Co., PA

carpenter in a 1800 Maiden Creek tax list and a house carpenter in a 1802 Maiden Creek deed. A obit in a period newspaper listed him as an inn keeper.

As reported by Dan:

"I have 2 or maybe 3 planes by J. Gehrig. I did some research previously and I believe the maker may be John Gehrig, born 1770 in Berks County PA, died 1824 in Maiden Creek, Berks Co. His probate records show carpenter tools valued at $22.00, as well as screws and a vise. He had a son George who was later listed as a carpenter."

Period records were searched for additional J Gehrig's but none have yet been found.
