Benjamin Putnam is the likely imprint with the "u" partially visible on an early looking birch molder that is 10 1/8" long. This entry is being listed in the hope that a clearer imprint will be found and reported.

1st tier candidate; Benjamin Putnam, Sutton, MA 1760 - Rutland, MA 1815. Benjamin was listed as a joiner, carriage maker and Baptist clergyman in "The Referenced History of the Putnam Family in England and America". He served in the RW 6-1779 to 7-1779 in Capt John Howard's Co.

Other Benjamins. The 1800 census was searched for Benjamin Putnam, and three individuals were found, one each in MA, VT and NY. No deeds for the Thurman, NY individual and only one deed for the Montpelier, VT individual. In the 1806 VT deed no trade was given. The VT individual is probably too late for the plane.
